If your hair is feeling dry or damaged from too much styling or heat, here is what you need to know.
TEST YOUR HAIR
Take a strand of dry hair and gently pull apart - if it breaks easily, it means your hair lacks moisture.
ADD MOISTURE THE RIGHT WAY
Read labels and select products which list natural moisturising ingredients like argan oil, jojoba oil, glycerin or shea butter. Stay away from ingredients such as petrolatum or silicones which coat the individual hair shaft and prevent moisturizing ingredients from entering.
SAVE YOUR HAIR FROM HEAT
Keep the hair dryer away and let your hair air dry occasionally. If you do need to blow dry, apply a heat protecting cream to hair while it is still damp and keep the temperature setting of your styling tools to as low a temperature as possible.
CUT AWAY DEAD ENDS
Get regular trims - once every 6 weeks is perfect to make sure dead ends are removed and you hair stays and looks healthy
PAMPER YOUR HAIR WITH DIY MASKS
Your kitchen can be a fantastic resource for all your hair beauty needs. Create a high protein mask by whipping up an egg, adding honey and olive oil and a few drops of peppermint or lavender essential oil to it. Apply generously over lengths, cover with a shower cap and leave on for an hour. Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner to wash off. Do this once a week for great results
FOLLOW A GOOD HAIR DIET
Make sure your daily diet contains a sufficient amount of healthy fats like olive oil, salmon, avocado and walnuts. Good hair also needs protein, zinc, iron and biotin. So don't be starving yourself because the lack of nutrients is going to be directly visible in your hair!
PREPARE YOUR HAIR FOR THE NIGHT
Detangle and brush out your hair before you head to bed. If you have long hair ,braid it loosely and fasten with tie. MSM Tip: Spray rosewater onto your braided hair and shake out in the morning for fabulous beachy waves.
