Are you guilty of these 5 mascara mistakes? Our makeup experts tell us what these are so you can STOP making them!
TOO LITTLE MASCARA
Make sure you cover the entire length of your lashes, especially the roots. If you miss out the roots, your lashes appear shorter than they are. MSM Pro Tip: start at the base of your lashes, carefully wiggle your mascara wand and then sweep UP to the tips.
TOO MUCH MASCARA
Don't drown your lashes in 50 coats of the good stuff! Most mascaras are meant to be applied no more than twice. Applying several layers serves zero purpose besides making your lashes clump and look spidery - unless of course that was the look you were going for (no, we didn't think so, either!)
BUYING THE WRONG MASCARA
We've spoken about it before in our blog here. Choose the right mascara wand for your lash type and for the effect you're trying to achieve. Each wand shape helps achieve different looks. So make smart purchasing decisions!
FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOUR MASCARA
Yes we know the feeling when we discover the perfect mascara for your eyelashes. But, don't hold on to mascara beyond 6 months. Ideally by that time you should have used up your open tube. Old mascara can cause eye infections, itchiness and redness. So toss your old wand and buy yourself a fresh one after 6 months.
PUMPING YOUR MASCARA
This one is almost as bad as number (4) above! Don't pump the wand in and out of the bottle in order to get more product on it. This introduces air and bacteria into the tube and also causes your mascara to dry out faster.
Instead, just twist the wand as you pull it out of the container. This helps you pick up just the right amount of product for each application.
This is the way to do it -
So now, you know gorgeous! Try it for yourself and see the difference it makes to your mascara.
