Have you managed to get all that Holi colour off your face, hair and nails yet?
While some of us may head over to a salon to get our skin some TLC after all that colour abuse it was subjected to, the smarter ones amidst us know that it's just as easy to pamper ourselves with some simple DIY masks that can be whipped up in minutes.
Read on to discover 3 simple masks that can help your skin recover from the excesses of the festival of colour!
OATMEAL MASK: Oatmeal is a great moisturiser, with anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe and calm irritated skin.
Add 1/2 cup hot water to 1/3 cup instant oatmeal and stir for a few minutes. Add a tablespoon honey and 1-2 tablespoons yogurt, and put through a blender to mix well. Apply on your face, leave on for 10 minutes or so, and then wash with warm water.
PAPAYA MASK: Papaya contains vitamin A and the enzyme papain which exfoliates dead cells and leaves the skin glowing.
Puree a few cubes of ripe papaya. Add 1/2 teaspoon honey and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply on cleansed skin. Rinse off after 15 minutes.
COFFEE GROUNDS MASK: Coffee contains caffeine which helps in reducing puffiness and swelling.
Mix together 1 tablespoon each of freshly ground coffee (NOT the instant variety) with an equal amount of cocoa powder. Combine with 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of yoghurt to make a paste. Apply over cleansed skin for 15 minutes. Gently scrub off with moistened fingertips followed by a rinse with cool water.
While this may sound like breakfast on your face, trust us when we say that these masks really work and help you get your face back to its pre-Holi look!
